Rainy Lake Medical Center is a level IV trauma center with 25 beds. Seeing around 5,430 patients in the ER and 2,500 patients in the urgent care, physicians are able to cover up to 48 hour shifts. There is an advance practice provider available to cover the urgent care patients each Saturday and Sunday. The ER physician also covers any inpatients, with the average daily census being 4 patients. Ancillary services include: lab, CT, x-ray, and ultrasound.
Bordering the Rainy River, International Falls is located 160 miles north of Duluth and is directly across from Ontario, Canada. With over 6,400 residents, International Falls is the home of several scenic state parks and Rainy River State Jr. College and Community College.

Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters is a critical access hospital with 25 licensed beds. Seeing 5,700 patients per year, physicians are able to cover up to a 48 hour shift. The ER physician also covers any inpatients, with the average daily census being 3 patients. Ancillary services include lab, x-ray, CT and ultrasound.
The center of the Chicago Great Western Railway, Oelwein, is located just 40 miles northeast of Waterloo. Nick named the “Hub City” because of the rail lines going through town, Oelwein is the home of a family aquatics center, a wellness center, a sports complex and a handful of parks. Even though most of the railroad business was moved in the 1980′s, the railroad made Oelwein and the surrounding area what it is today.
